Aromatherapy comprises a range of treatments that make use of aromatic oils which get extracted from certain plants. It dates back to ancient civilisations most particularly the Chinese.

Interest in it has been revived recently with other kinds of alternative medicine. It is claimed that aromatherapy is very successful treating various disorders but most effective in treating stress related conditions and psychosomatic illnesses.

That means physical disorders made worse or caused by a person's psychological issues perhaps making them have headaches, nausea, asthma, ulcers or eczema due to supposed stress.

The aromatherapy therapist will choose the right sort of oil from a prepared range to treat the person's particular problem. It does seem to work with many people but some conventional doctors say there is no conclusive evidence that these benefits are better than can result from the power of suggestion.
