Lavender has a very soothing and calming effect. It can be used in massage oils and can also be used in natural aromatherapy skin products that you can make at home. Be careful of adding oil directly to the skin as it can cause skin irritation (and don't accidentally put it in your eyes either!)
You can inhale lavender oil in a steam bath if you have sinus/allergy issues and I love lavender oil in a soothing bath.
Read directions on back of the lavender oil and it is not recommended to directly ingest oil (unless the oil package/bottle states it's okay). Be careful with oils especially if you are pregnant.
