Clean skin, antibacterial or clear soap like Neutrogena. Not wearing make-up and eliminating fatty and oily foods from your diet will help the most. That means milk, cheese, fries, chocolate, mayonaise, peanut butter and all the other fun things.
Pimples can actually come out on the skin a week after you have eaten something oily or fatty. Do a test. Lay off all fatty oily foods for a week. No makeup. Wash your face with the Neotrogena 3 times a day. Use paper towels to dry your face or let it air dry. Change your pillow case every night. See if your not 99% better in a week.

If you are suffering from a few pimples here and there, there are a wide variety of over-the-counter remedies that will rid them in a few days. Even natural remedies like egg yolk, toothpaste can work along with good face-washing habits.
However, since someone recommended that you see a dermatologist, I am assuming that you are suffering from more than just the intermittent, annoying pimple.
Over-the-counter soaps, lotions, creams, etc., and home/natural remedies will sometimes make the problem worse. This is because there is often an underlying cause of acne like higher than normal testosterone levels or other hormones in the blood. The creams and lotions will dry out your skin, not resolve the problem, and people are often left with clusters of acne and a dry, flakey face, too.
Suffering from acne can cause an issue with low-self esteeem. Often, people attempt to cover it up or hide it with a ton of make-up or even their hair which, again, complicates the problem.
I would suggest seeing a family practitioner/general practitioner. They can prescribe an appropriate treatment, either pills or ointment, and it will be less costly than seeing a dermatologist. Since a dermatologist is a specialist, their rates are often higher, and both doctors are able to treat acne with the same type of treatment/prescription, but the general practitioners are cheaper.
If you don't have insurance, you may want to ask the physician for some samples of the medication. Explain you don't have insurance and, if he has any samples on hand, he will most likely give them to you.

As Lucid says, the most important factor when it comes to acne is your diet.
I don’t intend on being repetitive, so I’ll dive into the daily care part of it.
I haven’t tried Neutrogena, so I cannot testify to its effectiveness, but another such face wash I find very good in preventing acne as well as thoroughly cleaning out your pores is Cetaphil cleansing lotion. This contains high density alcohols which kill bacteria (we all know that Staphylococcus is the bacteria most commonly causing pimples) but at the same time does not dry out your skin.
It’s not your typical foaming face wash, so a medium-sized blob will suffice even if it doesn’t lather.
Some home remedies that work well in reducing acne, especially for oily skin, are Fuller’s earth, rose water/oil, honey, lemon and aloe vera.
Fuller’s earth (multani matti) is a type of clay which will draw out dirt and toxins from your skin. Making the paste with rose water or adding a few drops of rose oil will give you the added antiseptic and moisturizing benefits of this essential oil.
Wash off the mask once it’s dry, and make sure you reduce facial movements to the bare minimum while you have it on so wrinkles don’t form.
For the honey-lemon mask mix together a tablespoon of honey with a teaspoon of lemon juice. Wash it off after 20-30 minutes.
Both honey and lemon have antiseptic properties, while honey also has a great hydrating effect on your skin.
Aloe vera is nature’s miracle worker for our skin, and even commercially available aloe vera moisturizers will help you out quite a bit if you cannot use the plant itself. It has hydrating, soothing and antiseptic properties as well as spreading out the melanin in your skin to give you an even-toned complexion.
You could also wipe your face with rose water 3-4 times a day, or even add it to your wash water. It’s perfectly good for you, so don’t wash it off.
Make sure you don’t over-indulge when it comes to taking care of your face. These masks should not all be used on the same day, and the wide range of cleansers, toners, moisturizers, make-up removers and face washes in stores should be left there. Stick with just ONE cleanser and moisturizer each. I recommend the Cetaphil cleanser and any good quality face cream that doesn’t leave oily residues and clog up your pores, preferably one with aloe.
Most importantly, don’t forget to drink PLENTY of water to flush out all the toxins and keep your skin hydrated.

Oil of Olay is causing the problem, so leave it aside for the time being!
It's a fine moisturizer on dry areas, but it's putting a moisture barrier over a clogged pore, now and that's what's causing a mini- volcano, your pimple!
You can easily clear your skin by filling a bowl with steaming hot water and, with a towel over your head, inhale the vapor. Then, once your pores are open, clean your skin using a mild facial cleanser that your skin is already accustomed to. Don't do anything too drastic because your skin might become irritated and that could lead to more pimples and scars. Just dry out the spots by putting an astringent on them. Witch hazel, lemon juice, toothpaste or an over the counter method will all give you good results.
There is a connection between diet and skin health,so if you're a junk food fan, that's possibly causing your skin to break out, but it's not the most likely reason! Yes, drink lots of water but don't cause your whole diet unless it's really bad.
What's MOST likely to cause a pimple is emotions. Anger that's boiling inside is the most likely cause of angry looking spots on your face, so when you'll treating your skin, make every effort to avoid being angry at it for this symptom! Be gentle and ask yourself "What is this about?" or " Is something bothering me?" Each time I have a pimple, I've begun to do this an I'm often surprised that I instantly know why I'm breaking out. Once I accept it, the pimple seems to fade very quickly!
Too bad I didn't do this earlier! I tried all the other remedies and I've got scars from several break outs, but now...I've learned that my skin is telling me something and all I have to do is listen and go gently with 'the cures'.

Oil of Olay soap for sensitive skin would be the best thing to clean your face. And, as far as an herbal product to get rid of acne - I know the perfect product. It is called Herpanacine and it basically worked a miracle on my oldest son's skin. He had terrible acne all over his face when he was 15 years old. Someone told me about Herpanacine and I bought some for my son. It is an herbal/vitamin product that comes in capsule form. My son took the Herpanacine faithfully, and in less than three months time his acne was completely gone! And, it never came back! I also make my youngest son take Herpanacine. He does not take it as faithfully as his brother did, but his skin is not as bad. When he does take it there is a dramatic change in his skin. I also take it if I ever notice a slight break-out or irritation in my skin. It is a great product and you can find in online or at some health food stores that sell herbal products.
